Computacenter Group Kick Off Conference 2024

We were invited by CI Group to the 2024 Computacenter Group Kick-Off Conference in Berlin - a multi-day conference showcasing major technology brands at a busy, fast-paced event.

CI Group have supported Computacenter since 2008 for their events, and for the 2024 Kick-Off event, were tasked with building the exhibition end-to-end, from stand ideation through to execution.

We had the challenge of filming this entire process, spanning a total of 3 days, and accumulating over 190 hours of footage. The biggest (and most exciting) challenge being that the main highlight video was to be delivered in just 10 hours of editing time - a job well done if we say so ourselves.

The main objectives of the video followed a few simple but challenging key points:

• The sheer scale and timeframe of the event and booths
• The quality, care, and craftsmanship that goes into each booth
• High tempo with a big reveal

Our idea to execute these key points was to use an up-tempo track that had a relatively large build-up to a peak. This allowed us to cut fast on beat and build suspense visually until the big reveal when the track crescendos, creating a satisfying ‘drop’.

The build-up to this point, showing off the craftsmanship, was quite simple, slow-motion close-ups of the craftsmen working intricately on key moments of the booths being created. Nothing fancy, just simple raw shots to reflect what is being seen.

Now, how do you show a lot of work being done over 72 hours in a 90” video? Timelapse of course. Using four cameras we designated four individual tasks for each of them respectively.

Cam A - Locked off for 72 hours, High FOV of the entire location. 

Cam B - Locked off for 3 hours at a time, Medium FOV of different locations.

Cam C - Locked off for 1 hour at a time, Flat FOV of individual booths.

Cam D - Roaming. 

Combining all the content from each of these cams, we were able to switch between different locations but allowed us to change shot distances so as not to make transitions seem so jarring.
